Chena River Bicycle/Pedestrian Path Centennial Bridge

The new Chena River Bicycle/Pedestrian Path Centennial Bridge to Steese Bridge project was funded by the State of Alaska, Department of Transportation to provide a pedestrian and bike path along the scenic Chena River in Fairbanks as well as a “seat wall” at a monument designed to commemorate the pilots that participated in the “WW II Lend-Lease” Program.

GBC, Inc. worked as the concrete subcontractor to build retaining walls and seat walls for the general contractor, Great Northwest, Inc.  This concrete project was both challenging and rewarding for GBC because the retaining walls had to be formed in various radial shapes along with the implementation of a form liner system to create a decorative appearance to the finished concrete wall.

GBC was proud to be a contributor to this highly visible project, which is sure to be enjoyed by Fairbanksians as well as many of Fairbanks’ visitors.
